Overview

If Quiet is developed by Concept Cache LLC. The app is designed to detect extended inactivity without observing the content of your computer use. It does not sell personal information, display advertising, build advertising profiles, or track you across apps and websites.

Information processed on your Mac

If Quiet reads macOS’s elapsed time since the last system input event. From that duration, it derives an approximate recent-activity time.

The app does not record the keys you press, where you click, which apps or documents you use, website history, screen contents, camera data, microphone data, location, contacts, or files.

Your quiet threshold, warning interval, pause state, and recent local activity time are stored in the app’s local preferences. The anonymous service credential issued to the installation is stored in the macOS Keychain.

Information stored by the remote service

To keep working when your Mac is asleep, offline, lost, or damaged, If Quiet uses a remote service. Depending on the features you configure, that service stores:

• An opaque installation identifier and a one-way digest of its authentication credential.
• A display name for the Mac, monitoring state, quiet threshold, warning interval, check-in timestamps, and server-calculated deadline.
• Recipient names or labels, email addresses, enabled status, subject, and the plain-text message written for each recipient.
• Delivery attempts, timestamps, status, limited failure details, and the email provider’s message identifier.
• App version and a client-reported activity timestamp used for operational diagnosis. The server’s receipt time—not the Mac clock—controls the deadline.

If Quiet is not intended to store documents, attachments, passwords, recovery keys, financial account instructions, medical records, or other vault material. Please do not put highly sensitive secrets in recipient messages.

How information is used

Information is used only to authenticate the installation, advance and evaluate its deadline, synchronize settings, manage recipients, send requested previews or test messages, deliver enabled messages after a deadline, prevent unintended duplicate deliveries, troubleshoot failures, secure the service, and respond to support requests.

If Quiet does not use third-party advertising SDKs or cross-app analytics and does not sell or rent recipient information.

Service providers

Concept Cache uses infrastructure and email-delivery providers to operate If Quiet. These providers process the limited technical and message data necessary to host the service and route email. Their systems may temporarily process network information such as IP addresses and mail-routing metadata under their own service terms and security practices.

Information may also be disclosed when required by law, to protect users or the service, or as part of a business transfer subject to appropriate confidentiality protections.

Retention and deletion

Configuration and delivery information is retained while the installation remains active and for a reasonable period afterward to operate the service, diagnose delivery problems, prevent duplicate messages, protect against abuse, and meet legal obligations. Backup copies may persist for a limited additional period.

You can permanently remove an installation from Settings by choosing Delete This Installation and confirming Delete Everything. This deletes the remote installation record, recipients, messages, check-in history, delivery records, and local Keychain connection. Uninstalling the app by itself does not perform this deletion. If you lose access to the installation before deleting it, contact privacy@ifquiet.app.

Security and reliability

If Quiet uses scoped installation credentials, Keychain storage on macOS, encrypted network transport in production, one-way credential digests, access controls, and delivery audit records. No system can guarantee absolute security or email delivery. An accepted email may still be delayed, filtered, rejected, or bounced by downstream providers.

If Quiet is a supplemental personal-safety tool. It is not an emergency service, monitored alarm, medical device, or substitute for direct contact with emergency services or trusted people.

Your choices

• Pause monitoring at any time.
• Disable a recipient without deleting their saved message.
• Edit or remove recipient information and messages.
• Privately preview a message at an address you choose, or send the intended recipient a clearly labeled optional test.
• Remove the local service credential from the Mac.
• Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion where applicable.

If Quiet is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy as If Quiet changes. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
